Britney Spears Grieves Diane Sawyer's Interview and Breakup with Justin Timberlake

We all watched in horror when Framing Britney Spears was released in February and a disturbing 2003 interview with Diane Sawyer resurfaced. In it, Sawyer asked the 21-year-old Spears probing questions, portrayed her as a villain in her relationship with Justin Timberlake and in pop culture, and ultimately made the young singer cry.

In a now-deleted Instagram post, Spears addressed the circumstances of the interview and expressed her feelings to Sawyer.

"Do we dare forget the interview with Diane Sawyer in my apartment almost 20 years ago?" Spears writes (via People)." What was the "you are wrong" approach? Geez ...... And make me cry?

"Seriously ....... I lived in an apartment for a year and never spoke to anyone ...... My manager let the woman into my home and had her talk to me on national television! When have I ever had a shopping problem? When I never stepped out of my own apartment?

Spears further described how the breakup affected her at the time. She said, "When I went through a big breakup a few years ago, the one thing I didn't share was that I couldn't talk afterwards ....... I didn't talk to anyone for a long time. ...... It was shocking...... I could hardly speak and then my father and three men showed up at my door..... .two days later they put Diane Sawyer in my living room...... They forced me to talk......! I was a baby...... I was almost 22 and didn't understand...... But now I understand! She said 'woman or woman' ... Now I'm like, 'Ma'am, I'm a catholic slut!' ' I'd like to say that."

Jamie Spears' attorney Alex Weingarten told People, "Ms. Spears has no idea what Ms. Spears is talking about. Jamie has never set up an interview with Diane Sawyer, nor has he ever sat in on such an interview. He has nothing to do with Britney's career at this point and was not involved in this interview at all. Jamie loves Britney very much and wishes her well and hopes she continues to seek the help she needs to stay safe and healthy."

This is not the first time the singer has sued members of her abusive family. She previously said her father should be charged with "conservatorship abuse" and that her mother "ruined" her life.
