Prince William and Kate Middleton "bridge" to older royals, experts say

Prince William and Kate Middleton are riding a wave of popularity right now. In their latest effort, they hosted a large carol service at Westminster Abbey, attended by young members of the royal family, including Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice and Zara Tindall.

For royal family expert Dickie Arbeiter, it is no coincidence that he is seeing more and more of the Cambridges' generation these days. We are living in a time when the Cambridges are building bridges to the royal family," Arbiter tells Femail. [The Carol Service is] Kate's idea, but it is one way for other members of the royal family who have been involved in some way with COVID to come together and show their appreciation," he continues. 'It is an initiative of the Duchess of Cambridge, who works closely with the Duke. It was almost a joint project, with the Duchess taking the lead."

Arbiter further explains why the role of the Cambridges is now so important within the royal family. 'Younger people know who the queen is, but they have a hard time identifying with someone who is so far removed in age from them. Someone like Mr. and Mrs. Cambridge would be a bridge between the young and the older generation."

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have taken on a "higher role" in the royal family in recent months after the Queen suffered health problems in recent weeks and Prince Philip died in April.
