Queen's Christmas Celebrations Continue Amid Surge in COVID Infections

With COVID cases (including Omicron) soaring in the UK, the Queen has no plans to cancel Christmas celebrations at this time. The Queen and Prince Philip spent their last Christmas quietly at Windsor Castle amid increasing restrictions in the country.

First up was Christmas lunch on December 21. Traditionally held at Buckingham Palace, this year it was moved to Windsor Castle due to the Queen's health concerns. The Queen plans to invite about 50 guests to this event.

"Since it's at Windsor Castle, it will be fairly easy to distance herself socially if necessary," a source told The Sun. The Queen doesn't want anything to get in the way of such a family event." Especially after a year in which she lost her husband and was forced to make light work of it under doctor's orders."

"It will be the first time since Philip's funeral that so many family members will be in one place."

"But obviously everyone has to act responsibly and things can change in a short time, but as it stands, everything is set for Tuesday."

Then comes the annual celebration at Sandringham. It is underway at the moment, but it is clear that it will be considered until the last moment," a source told The Sun.

A source told The Mirror in November that the queen is "fully committed" to hosting her favorite Sandringham Christmas, and the situation does not appear to be changing for the time being. Kate Middleton and Prince William will naturally attend, but Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will not, as far as we know; the growing COVID numbers are likely to complicate the trip anyway, to say the least.
