Ben Affleck declares that he "never speaks ill of" Jennifer Garner.
While promoting his film "Tender Bar," Ben Affleck recently spoke candidly to Howard Stern about his relationship with ex-wife Jennifer Garner and his alcoholism, discussing how unhappy their marriage was and how he believes those circumstances led to his alcoholism. He spoke about how unhappy he thought their marriage was and how he believed those circumstances led to his alcoholism.
"One of the reasons I started drinking alcohol was because I was trapped," Affleck told Stern. 'I can't leave because of my kids, but I'm not happy. I was like, 'What am I going to do? That's what it was like.
Affleck made it clear that although he had a terrible marriage to Garner, he had tremendous "respect" for her and was in no way trying to blame her for his alcoholism. Out of context, however, we do not know how his words were interpreted.
Affleck, who appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to set the record straight, said, "It was a very cool, in-depth, two-hour interview, like a feature-length, in-depth interview, about divorce, alcoholism, battling real problems, how you have to have responsibility and love, how you work with your ex-wife and How proud he is to be working with his ex-wife, doing what is best for his children and working together. Honestly, I was very happy with that.
"Then I started seeing this stuff being talked about on Twitter," he said, referring to one clickbait site. 'They literally took a conversation I had for two hours and made it seem as if I was saying the exact opposite of what I had said. They said I talked about how much we respected each other, cared about each other, put our children first, and got over each other, yet they said I said it was my ex-wife's fault I became an alcoholic. They told me I was the worst, the most insensitive, the stupidest, the worst man they had ever known."[7Affleck explained that if the gossip was about him, it was fine, but his children were off-limits. 'If it's gossip about your own children, you have to be clear about it,' he said. 'I don't believe that, and it's the exact opposite of who I am and what I believe. I'm glad that's been cleared up.'
