Britney Spears Unfollows Sister Jamie Lynn Spears on Instagram Amid Family Discord

In the year 2022, Britney Spears is ready to leave behind things and people that no longer serve her. After 13 years as a conservator, enjoying her newfound freedom and her engagement to longtime partner Sam Asgari, she no longer has time for certain family members.

E! News confirmed that the singer recently unfollowed her sister Jamie Lynn on Instagram. As of this writing, her sister Spears still follows her famous older sister.

Jamie Lynn spoke out about Britney's conservatorship after detailing the terrible conditions Britney lived in for 13 years during a June hearing. On Instagram Stories, Jamie Lynn said, "Until my sister was able to speak for herself and say what she thought she should say publicly, I didn't think it was my place or the right thing to do. But now that my sister has spoken very clearly and said what she needs to say, I feel like I can follow her lead and say what I think I should say."

#FreeBritney activists had previously criticized Jamie Lynn for not publicly supporting her sister in the fight to end her conservatorship.

Britney took to Instagram in July to complain that Jamie Lynn had not been there for her as she said she would." 'My so-called support system has hurt me deeply,' the star wrote at the time." I don't like that my sister showed up at the awards ceremony and performed a remix of my song."

The singer echoed this sentiment again on Instagram in October, writing, "This message is to my family: ...... For hurting me more deeply than you know !!!!" He wrote.

A source later told Us Weekly that Britney had no intention of inviting her family to the wedding. It makes sense, given the sequence of events, that Britney unfollowed Jamie Lynn on social media.
