Prince William and Kate Middleton spend New Year's Eve with the Middletons

How do royals ring in the New Year? Well, if you are the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, you are not so different from us common folk who had a more low-key New Year's Eve with close friends and family. Apparently, Prince William and Kate spent the vacation with Kate's family, the Middletons, in West Berkshire, as is customary. 'It's going to be a lively evening with a great party atmosphere,' an unnamed friend told the Express. 'The Middletons are always great hosts and like to keep their guests entertained.'

What is certain is whether Kate and her family threw a typical New Year's Eve party, as the COVID-19 craze continues. According to the Sun, Carroll and Michael Middleton have been known to throw big parties in their backyard with over 100 guests.

As for William and Kate themselves, they did not share any photos or information about the event itself, but in honor of the end of 2021, they posted a glamorous photo on their shared Instagram account, somewhat suspiciously called "PDA-laden," that shows the Duke and Duchess at the "No Time to Die" premiere, and shows the two smiling and holding hands in the backseat of a limousine. The caption reads simply, "Wishing everyone a Happy New Year!"

The Cambridges are known for their minimal public displays of affection, which is why this unpublished snapshot of the couple appearing genuinely happy and in love caused quite a stir on the Internet. For other celebrity couples, it would be chaste, but for William and Kate, it may as well be lovey-dovey.

If they tried to ring in the New Year with a party atmosphere, they definitely succeeded.
