Prince Charles "Proud" of Prince William and Prince Harry for Tackling Climate Change

Prince Charles has spoken passionately about climate change for half a century.

In a new essay for Newsweek, Prince Charles, heir to the British throne, calls us all to urgent action on environmental issues and parallels his own activities with those of his family.

The Prince first touched on his father, Prince Philip, and his role in establishing the World Wildlife Fund, then focused on the work of his two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, themselves. The latter was an important focus given the various speculations surrounding the father-son feud since the Sussexes moved to California. Prince Harry himself even told Oprah Winfrey in March 2021 that his father "stopped answering the phone."

But, at least for the purposes of this essay, Prince Charles acknowledges the efforts of his two sons. It is also in contrast to the Queen, who chose to remove Prince Harry from her Christmas speech. [As a father, I am proud that my sons are aware of this threat. Recently, my oldest son William launched the prestigious Earthshot Prize to help repair the planet over the next decade by identifying and investing in technologies that can drive change and make a difference." His second son, Harry, has also passionately highlighted the impact of climate change, especially on Africa, and has pledged to make his charity Net Zero."

The royal family warned against taking a defeatist attitude toward climate change, stressing that if we act collectively, we can begin to reverse its effects. Humanity has proven that even the seemingly unsolvable can be solved. I believe that we can and must do so again if we wish to protect and preserve this planet we call home." Well said.
