Prince Harry May Postpone Memoir Publication After Prince Charles "Branches Out" in Newsweek Essay, Experts Say

According to many accounts, Prince Harry has not been on good terms with his U.K.-based family since moving his royal life with Meghan Markle to sunny California. His relationship with Prince Charles appears to have deteriorated significantly with the move and the Sussexes' decision to give an exclusive interview to Oprah Winfrey in March 2021.

However, with the Crown Prince's meaningful choice to mention his youngest son in a recent essay on climate change for Newsweek magazine, the parent-child relationship may be on the mend to some extent--at least that's what royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams Fitzwilliam thinks so.

"The fact that Prince Charles has written such an essay for Newsweek magazine, which has a large circulation in the United States, is clearly an olive branch for reconciliation," Fitzwilliams told The Sun.

"If you're offering an olive branch, I think it's reasonable to expect something in return," the expert explained, adding that Prince Harry's delaying the release of his memoir may represent a fair exchange in this instance. I had assumed that the postponement of the release of the autobiography would be considered in some way," he said. Otherwise, everything that was said when Meghan and Harry came to Japan for the Platinum Jubilee could end up in the book"

.

The royal family is reportedly quite nervous (one expert described it as "shaking in their shoes") about Prince Harry's forthcoming memoir, which is widely expected to be particularly critical of Prince Charles. The book's release date, currently set for late 2022, is also seen as "disrespectful" because of its proximity to the Queen's platinum jubilee, which celebrates 70 years on the throne.

"The Royal Family needs to know that the pressure is off regarding this autobiography," Fitzwilliams continues. 'This is their way of dealing with it.'
