Why Kate Middleton didn't let Prince George wear an England shirt in the Euro final, asks royal expert

Kate Middleton is a doting mother, not afraid to ignore tradition at times in order to give her children a semblance of a normal life. But whether she likes it or not, the reality remains that her eldest son, Prince George, will one day be expected to reign over England.

For royal expert Duncan Larcombe, George's decision to suit up for last summer's Euro finals is a classic example of his conscious preparation for that unique future.

"I was really shocked to see George in a grown-up suit for the first time with his parents at the Euro final in July," Larkom told OK!"People were asking why I didn't put him in an England shirt 'like a normal 8-year-old'."

"William seemed keen on the idea, but Kate, a former commoner, said no. She had taught George that he needed a different approach when he was "on duty." ...... He must learn to put on his royal armor."

This may sound harsh, but Middleton, as Larcombe says, was badly spoken of for being a commoner when she started going out with her husband. And while she didn't dress her son in fun sportswear for the big match, she still actually entertained him.

"So George was encouraged to leap up and celebrate when England scored, to cheer like a normal youngster, to wave and hug Mom and Dad," Larkom continues.

"And Larkom continues.

"George was just beginning to understand his destiny, but Kate helped him plan his journey."
