Kanye West Threatens to Hit Pete Davidson with New Song
It is important to recognize that people constantly say and do things for the sake of art that they would not do in real life. For example, actress Sally Hawkins would never actually associate with the scaly fish man who helped her escape from a government laboratory. There will be other examples. The point is that we should tolerate hearing that Kanye West has released a snippet of a new song in which he expresses his intention to "beat Pete Davidson's ass." Nice, huh?
According to Deadline, West, who recently legally changed his name to Ye, has released a snippet of a new song called "My Life Was Never Eazy," a collaboration with rapper The Game: "God saved me from that accident / So I could beat Pete Davidson's ass. The "crash" lyric refers to a horrific car accident West was involved in in 2002. The line about Pete Davidson is supposedly referring to the Saturday Night Live actor's romantic relationship with Ye's ex-girlfriend, Kim Kardashian.
This gives one much to ponder! For example, despite his recent high-profile date with actress Julia Fox, West has not been shy about talking on stage about his desire to get back together with Kardashian, moving right next door to her house and professing that he thinks they should get back together. It has even been speculated that West's relationship with Fox is an elaborate (but allegedly ineffective) ploy to make Kim "jealous." One must also consider that Pete is said to be 6'5" while Ye is said to be 6'2". Consider!
But Ye is also an artist, someone who has made a career out of using his lyrics to create controversy and ridicule rumors about him. So taking these latest lyrics too literally is still to be taken with a grain of salt.
In any case, the timing of the release may be more of an issue for Ye than the content; according to the BBC, Ye is being investigated as a "wanted suspect" in an assault in Los Angeles early Thursday morning. No arrests have been made.
We will update if we hear more about this allegation or about Pete's reaction to being named in Ye's song.
