Meghan Markle Refused to Live With Prince Charles Because It Would Have Been 'Awkward,' Royal Expert Says

Prince Charles reportedly invited Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to stay with him the next time they are in the UK

according to royal expert Angela Levin (who previously spoke to Marie Claire before the Duchess of Cambridge's 40th birthday), If the Crown Prince had invited the youngest son and his wife, it would have been Markle who would have declined.

"Of course, when you're married, your partner has a say in everything, and I don't think Meghan wants to come back here," Levin explained to The Sun.

"I think it would be very difficult to be with Prince Charles and the Duchess [Duchess of Cornwall].

It was widely believed that the Sussexes would cross the Atlantic with their children Archie and Lilibet for Prince Philip's memorial service in the spring, but the lack of security provided for them put a damper on that plan. The Sussexes were also expected to cross the Atlantic for the Queen's Jubilee ceremony this June.

Prince Charles and Prince Harry's relationship has reportedly been strained in recent months, especially after the Sussexes' February 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, but the heir to the throne extended an olive branch in the form of a name-check in a recent Newsweek essay offered.

Levin praised Prince Charles for trying to smooth things over and invite Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. He said, "I think Prince Charles loves Harry and is devastated by his actions.

"Prince Charles is trying to make Harry a member of the royal family.
