Strange stories about the late Meat Loaf and Prince Andrew
American singer and actor Meat Loaf died this week at the age of 74. Of course, Meat Loaf was an interesting figure with a long and illustrious career that spanned nearly 60 years and produced millions of albums. For example, it turns out that Meat Loaf claimed that his car was hijacked by a Secret Service agent during the JFK assassination. Another story is that he once gave a hitchhiker a ride, but that the hitchhiker was the famous murderer Charles Manson. These are strange stories! However, one of the stories that is being passed off as some sort of homage is truly out of the blue.
The story in question was told by Mr. Roffe in a 2003 interview with The Guardian, in which he explained that he was in Staffordshire in 1987 for a charity event called Royal Knockout, which Prince Edward and Prince Andrew also attended. Prince Andrew had recently married Sarah Ferguson, and apparently she had taken a special interest in Meat Loaf. Fergie wasn't flirting with me, but she was paying attention to me, and Andrew was a little--maybe a little wrong."
At this point, you might be thinking, "Well, what's the point of this? The answer is yes. Yes.
Prince Andrew reacted to the slight that he was hitting on his wife by trying to push Meat Loaf into the moat that surrounded the event. However, the lanky Meat Loaf was not so easily knocked down, and he turned around, grabbed Prince Andrew, and asked, "What's your big idea? Meat Loaf continued: "So I turned around and grabbed him, and he said, 'I'm royalty. I'm royalty,'
Meat Loaf replied:" You were trying to push me into the moat, Jack, I don't care who you are.
Perhaps Meat Loaf did not throw the now disgraced prince into the moat, but instead showed restraint. Nevertheless, there are some very convincing elements to this story. Among them is the knowledge that Prince Andrew is a suspected pervert and may have deserved to be pushed into the moat. But the fact that there is a moat in this story is so wonderful. So is the part where Meat refers to a member of the royal family as "Jack." All of it... . so beautiful.
Most importantly, the anecdote is why, according to Meat Loaf, "The Queen hates me. A rip to the real Queen.
