Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding day chemistry gave reporters "goosebumps.
The 2018 wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle was clearly a global event. The celebrity-studded, royal family-studded event, watched by millions of people around the world, was a momentous occasion as the last unmarried royals of the current generation took an important step toward maturity. Harry and Meghan's decision to step away from their royal duties less than two years later, move to California, and change palaces forever was a decision that would have been made by the royal family themselves. But that was later! It was their wedding day, and according to the reporter who covered the event, the atmosphere was sultry.
In a video for the Telegraph, Camilla Tominey, deputy editor and longtime royal correspondent, recalled her experience covering the big day firsthand. She had definitely earned her place at Windsor: Tommigny was actually the first to cover the story that Harry and Meghan were dating. 'It was kind of the culmination of several years of work in terms of getting the scoop on their relationship,' she said. 'It was an important scoop for me and for the newspaper in October 2016 when we heard that Harry was dating an American actress named Meghan Markle. And to see it develop into a very serious relationship, a marriage at Windsor Castle, obviously kind of completed the circle of a special relationship with Prince Harry."
Tommoney noted that, in getting to know Meghan Markle, even before she was dating Harry, she was a glamorous actress in the United States and had a long list of charity work, including with the United Nations. In other words, she was a real charmer. She said, "I think there was a sense that Prince Harry was way over his weight, despite the fact that he was one of the most attractive bachelors in the world."
As for the wedding day, it was as perfect in real life as it is on television. While interviewing for NBC in front of Windsor Castle, Tominey said, "I think you get goosebumps the moment the bride comes on the stage. This feeling of seeing her radiant figure is a kind of 'one breath' moment. I mean, when the carriage passed by, I ran down the stairs to see it.
The location also gave Tominey a closer perspective on the couple's energy surrounding each other. She said, "Journalistically, and as human nature, you are very sensitive to some of the body language, and this sense that the couple is totally into each other is really evident, and it really came through in the church." 'It was really obvious that they were deeply in love with each other, and I felt this chemistry that gave me goosebumps.'
So if you were one of the millions who channeled Harry and Meghan's wedding, rest assured there were no camera tricks: they were truly excited to be married.
