Brenda Song talks about balancing parenthood with Macaulay Culkin.
Brenda Song is having her moment.
Of course, Brenda Song has been having her moment ever since she stole our hearts as London Tipton on the Disney Channel, but we feel that now is especially the moment.
The actress is currently starring in the TV show Dollface alongside Kat Dennings and Shay Mitchell, and trying to figure out how to juggle her thriving career while raising a Dakota boy with her new fiancé, Macaulay Culkin.
Speaking to The Cut about how she "gets it done," it certainly sounds like Song has found a balance that works for her-it's definitely no easy feat.
"My boyfriend and I are very hands-on. We don't have a sitter, but my mom has been with us since my son was born. He's nine months old now. When I was working, my mom would bring him to the shoot so I could breastfeed him and watch him during the day. People tell me all kinds of things about labor and pregnancy, but they don't tell me about being 4 months pregnant. I would say to my pregnant girlfriends, always get help. Even if you instinctively want to do it all, you can't physically do it."
Song also explained that she did not wait long enough after giving birth to Dakota before returning to work. 'I had no idea what I was doing,' she said. 'I got back to work very quickly. It was harder than I thought it would be. I've always prided myself on being first on the set. So it was hard to be told, 'Hey, I'm going to go fetch milk for 20 minutes.' It took a toll on me to be away from my son for hours at a time. It was hard to learn my own boundaries while taking care of my son and my family. But I knew I had a great support system and that my son was cared for. It's hard not being with your newborn son, but at the end of the day, mom has to put food on the table. But at the end of the day, mommy has to put food on the table. I hope he understands that. ......"
. I'm sure he'll understand.
