Kim Kardashian explains how she and Kanye West ended up divorcing.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye "Ye" West were married for seven years and had four children.

In a new candid cover interview with Vogue, the SKIMS founder opened up about how her priorities changed before her separation from West, and how that change contributed to the separation.

"For a long time, I was doing what made other people happy," Kim told the magazine. 'Over the last two years, I decided I was going to make myself happy. And it feels really good. I think it's important to be honest with yourself about what really makes you happy, even if that means making changes and causing a divorce. I chose myself. I think I can choose you."

On what exactly choosing herself means, Kim shared what she hopes for the next decade. 'My 40s are about being Team Me. I'll eat well. I'll work out. Have more fun and spend more time with my kids and the people who make me happy. Put down my phone. Unfollow anything I don't want to see on Instagram. Chloe came up with the best phrase yesterday. She said, 'Post and Ghost.'"

Self-care, family time, and digital detox.

Apparently, in the Kardashian family, the 40s are a time of growth beyond imagination. Kim's sister Kourtney revealed, "When Kim and I each turned 40, we got tons of emails from grandmas, cousins, and people over 40." 'You're going to have the best sex of your life. We're going to the best place in our lives. They love it."

But of course, when you are co-parenting four young children with an ex, you have to be extra careful how you present your relationship to them. You may be hurt or angry at your ex-boyfriend, but in front of the kids, I think you always have to say, 'Your dad is the best,'" Kim added. 'Whatever your personal situation, make sure you are the biggest cheerleader for your co-parent.' Good advice.
