Kim Kardashian didn't want to hide her face at the Met Gala

You've seen Kim Kardashian's Met Gala outfit. You know the one: an all-black Balenciaga outfit that covered her face (not to mention her $10,000 ponytail).

But even if Kardashian loves to make and break the Internet, it wasn't actually her idea to cover her face; after all, she would have been much happier without it.

"I was against it. I don't know how they could wear a mask. But Demna [Gvasalia] said, 'I'm happier with the mask.' But Demna [Gvasalia, Balenciaga's creative director] and the team said, "This is a masquerade gala. But Demna (Balenciaga's creative director) and her team said, "This is a costume gala. There is a theme, and you have to wear a mask. That's the look."

Demna herself told Vogue about the masks, "Conceptually speaking, they are very important. If you look at her silhouette, you immediately know it's Kim. And I think that's the power of her celebrity.

It's clear that Demna admires Kardashian as a fashion figure. 'I don't think anyone has redefined the standards of beauty, of feminine beauty, as much as Kim has over the years. She did something very similar to what Marilyn Monroe did all those years ago. She redefined our understanding of what beauty is."

And no matter how you feel about Kardashian, it's hard to deny her impact on the fashion world.
