A bride wants her wedding to be perfect.

In 2011, Catherine Middleton may have married into the Royal Family, but she was still a bride first and foremost.

Unfortunately for her, it also brought intense media scrutiny as well as equally intense indiscretions. The name of her wedding dress designer, Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen, was revealed to the public early on.

"Behind the scenes, I think there were tears at the palace because Kate was doing everything she could to keep the wedding dress secret," royal expert Katie Nichols said in the documentary Secrets of the Royal Dressmakers (via Mirror).

According to the Mirror, the Sunday Times broke the news about two months before the royal wedding. The article reported at the time that "[Burton] was chosen by Middleton, who is increasingly striving to establish her own style, for her quirky elegance, discretion and unobtrusiveness."

"One fashion insider said the dress would be a combination of Middleton's own design ideas and Burton's deep knowledge and understanding of high fashion.

"Middleton had hoped to keep Burton's name under wraps until the wedding.

But the public's knowledge of who designed the long-awaited dress took nothing away from the very sight of the soon-to-be Duchess of Cambridge making her way to Westminster Abbey itself, on our TV screens and in our reality, over a decade later. I don't think there's anyone who doesn't think of that gorgeous lace gown.
