Several sources have confirmed the news to Life&Style, but fans point out that this is far from the first time the couple has been "reportedly engaged," and that we should leave it to Swift to tell us when she's ready to do so (if it's true in the first place).

"Until Taylor Swift herself tells us she's engaged or married, you guys can keep your tabloids to yourselves. The Reputation era taught me a good lesson," one fan tweeted.

"Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn get engaged every five to seven business days," said another.

Others pointed out that Taylor Swift knows how to make dramatic announcements and these rumors are clearly not that.

"There are unconfirmed reports circulating that Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn are engaged. My guess is that she got married years ago but never told anyone. She will reveal it on her next album with cryptic clues that fans will be able to decipher within seconds of its release," tweeted entertainment editor Matthew Galea

Others were (sarcastically) upset by the rumor. Another fan tweeted, "Is Taylor Swift not engaged to Joe Alwyn because she is literally my wife and that is against the law?"
