Read MoreBy all accounts, Prince William and Kate Middleton's three children, George, Charlotte, and Louis, are very well behaved when in public. But children are children, and even the Cambridge children get into trouble from time to time. But the way William and Kate discipline the trio makes a big difference, experts say.
The Daily Express spoke to a BabySense expert about William and Kate's parenting style, especially how they discipline.
"Being a parent can be a difficult job, especially when children are misbehaving," they said." Each parent has their own techniques for disciplining their children, and this is no different for Kate and William."
According to the Cambridges' house rules, they have opted for a "talking couch" instead of a "naughty step." The "talking couch" is a typical British discipline method in which a child sits silently on a designated step in the house, "usually for one minute every year after birth, and many parents believe it is an effective discipline method," according to experts.
William and Kate use a "talking couch" instead. Babysense states, "When a disturbance or confrontation breaks out, Kate or William will take the child in question to another room and have them talk about the behavior." While there is no right or wrong way to raise a child, the technique practiced by Kate and William shows that they prefer to talk about the child's behavior and why it is unacceptable." This is a technique that many parents use and believe helps them understand more clearly why their child is being disciplined."
[10In addition, experts say that setting up a discussion between the child and the parent, as William and Kate chose to do, allows the child to express his or her feelings, while at the same time allowing the parent to explain what the child did and why it was wrong.
"Doing so often leads to a calmer atmosphere," the experts say. When disciplining their children, it has been shown that Kate and William "firmly explain the consequences of bad behavior, but never raise their voices. Often, when parents raise their voices, their children get equally frustrated and make the situation worse. Talking to your child in a calm but firm tone is a great way to get your message across clearly and precisely while defusing the situation."
[16The Cambridges have a nanny, Maria Borraro, who is often spotted with them, but William and Kate are both very active and down-to-earth parents, and their calm and clear disciplining style has borne fruit in their children's behavior, according to Babysense.
"These are considered one of the best techniques to use because they allow all parties involved to express their feelings and understand why the child is behaving badly and, in turn, why it is unacceptable," they stated.
While there is certainly no parenting handbook and every child is different, the Cambridges have found a method that works for their family and seem to be raising three well-adjusted children.
