Police launch investigation in honor-recovery scandal, and Charles is in a lot of trouble.

Scotland Yard has launched an investigation into the cash-for-honors scandal plaguing Prince Charles' charity, the Prince's Foundation, the Mirror reported.

The investigation comes after the foundation's former chief executive, Michael Fawcett, stepped down last year amid accusations that he promised knighthoods and British citizenship to donors in Saudi Arabia. A spokesman for Charles claimed that he had no knowledge of Fawcett's allegations.

"The Metropolitan Police Department has opened an investigation into alleged crimes under the Honor Act of 1925 (Anti-Abuse Act). This decision follows an evaluation of a letter issued in September 2021." It relates to media reports of offers of assistance in securing the honor and citizenship of Saudi nationals.

So far, no arrests have been made and The Prince Foundation is cooperating with the police, police added.

"A special investigative team has conducted an assessment process that includes contacting people who may have relevant information," the statement continued. The officers communicated with the Prince Foundation regarding the results of the independent investigation into the funding formula." The Foundation provided a number of relevant documents. These documents were reviewed along with existing information. As a result of the assessment, it was decided that an investigation would be initiated."

Allegations against Charles' foundation were first raised last September in both the Sunday Times and the Mail on Sunday; by November, Fawcett had resigned.

After the announcement of the police investigation, Prince Charles' office reiterated its earlier claim that it knew nothing about the exchange of cash for honors, saying that "Prince Charles knew nothing about the allegations that honors and British citizenship were offered for donations to his charity."

This investigation took place the same week that Prince Charles tested positive for the second time after being infected with COVID-19 in March 2020.
