Prince Harry May Be Interviewed by Police in Prince Charles Honor Scandal

As Scotland Yard launches an investigation into Prince Charles' charity, the Prince's Foundation, and specifically into allegations that its former CEO, Michael Fawcett, promised a Saudi billionaire a knighthood and British citizenship in exchange for donations to the foundation, Prince Harry The Daily Mail reports that Prince Harry may be interviewed by police in the investigation of the case.

As far back as 2015, the Duke of Sussex expressed concern about the billionaire and severed ties with Mahfouz Maley Mubarek bin Mahfouz a year before Prince Charles presented him with the CBE honor, the outlet reported.

As the Metropolitan Police investigate, "detectives may choose to question him (Harry) about what his concerns were and who he told in 2015," the Mirror reported.

According to the Daily Mail, Harry met with Mahfouz twice, once in 2013, when the two discussed Harry's charity Sentebale, founded in 2006 to help people in Lesotho and Botswana suffering from AIDS. Then in 2014, after Charles also met with Mahfouz, Harry and the billionaire met again; in February 2013, Mahfouz donated £50,000 to Sentebale, and later that year, Harry donated £10,000 to Walking with the Wounded, another charity of which he was a patron donated £10,000 to Walking with the Wounded, another charity of which Harry was a patron.

"The Duke was scheduled to meet this donor once eight years ago and expressed his concerns about the donor without introducing him to members of the Royal Family," Harry's spokesman said, as reported by the Daily Mail. Allegedly, the concern was over the businessman's motives.

"Prince Charles presented Mr. Mahfouz with a CBE in 2016," royal commentator Peter Hunt said before the police investigation was announced." Did Prince Harry discuss his concerns in 2015?" This is just one of many questions the Metropolitan Police Department could ask father and son if they chose to investigate.

Now that the investigation has begun, Prince Charles will likely be asked about what he knew about the claims against Fawcett - and Harry could be called in for questioning as well.

"The fact that Harry dropped this guy [Mahfouz] should have been a red herring for Charles, but obviously he ignored it and ran straight through," said former Liberal Democrat MP Norman Baker, according to the Daily Mail.
