Kate Middleton, asked if she was Prince William's assistant, was completely unfazed.

In May 2020, Kate Middleton and Prince William called the numbers in a game of virtual bingo for residents at Shire Hall Care Home in Cardiff, Wales.

At the time, Joan Drew-Smith, the resident's outspoken speaker, said the game "wasn't as good as it should have been."

In August 2020, when the Cambridges sat outside wearing masks and were finally able to visit the home in person, they were eager to meet Drew-Smith. After introducing himself, the Duke of Cambridge told her, " We played bingo with you and you won, but you said we didn't do a very good job."

Drew-Smith did not pause and told her, "No, you did a bloody awful job," and everyone present became hysterical. The Duke took it in stride and exclaimed, "Excellent!" He exclaimed, "Oh, England. Ah, England.

According to the Mirror, Prince William continued to tell Drew-Smith, "I have to wear a mask because of the virus, but sometimes it's hard to hear when you can't see your mouth."

Pointing to Middleton, the resident asked, "Is this your assistant?" I simply replied.

The Duchess, adept at dealing with such situations, quickly laughed and replied, "I've been with you for a long time. It's been a long time coming!"

Her husband later told the staff, "I'm not sure I've ever seen anything like it. I wish everyone was as honest as she is."

Thankfully, not everyone at the home was as harsh an audience as Drew-Smith. Resident Margaret Stocks told the Royal couple, "I enjoyed (bingo). I enjoyed (the bingo).

The Duchess, ever humble, retorted, "So did we! That's why we were so awful!"

Heartwarming.
