Read MoreEven without seeing the photo at the beginning of this article, one could have pictured Meghan Markle in her dress from last year's Oprah interview.
Even if you didn't watch that interview itself, it was in the news for weeks and months after it aired, a departure from the way the Royal Family is usually treated.
And now some of the biggest names in fashion are acknowledging the impact the segment has had on the culture at large by selecting the dress worn by the Duchess of Sussex at the roundtable as the "Dress of 2021."
Each year, Fashion Museum Bath nominates someone in the fashion industry to choose a dress that represents the moment. This year, it was the turn of two individuals to choose the outfit: Ibrahim Kamara and Gareth Leighton of Dazed magazine.

"Meghan's wrap dress by Armani, worn to show off her sacred pregnancy, framed the Duchess in black against the rich landscaping of Tyler Perry's Hollywood garden. The look is now firmly etched in our pop culture psyche, if only for its association with viral television moments"

The dress does not look like something plucked from a royal closet, but is of the same design and will be on display at the Fashion Museum Bath as part of the exhibition "A History of Fashion in 100 Objects."
"This is a wonderful addition to the Fashion Museum's collection. There are moments in history when a dress is everything, and Meghan's interview with Oprah was just such an occasion. The softly structured Armani dress with its beautiful appliquéd lotus flower motif was part of a carefully curated look that was guaranteed to send a message and be etched into our consciousness over and over again. We thank Ibrahim and Gareth for selecting this groundbreaking dress for the Dress of the Year collection, and Armani for generously donating it to the museum.
