Prince Harry sues the Daily Mail for libel.

Oh dear. Prince Harry has once again filed a legal claim against Associated Newspapers, publisher of the Daily Mail and the Mail on Sunday.

This time, the Duke of Sussex is fighting back after the latter newspaper made allegedly "defamatory" claims about the royal family's fight to obtain adequate security for himself and his family in the UK

"A spokesman for the Sussex family said Prince Harry has been in contact with the Daily Mail, the Mail on Sunday, and Associated Newspapers, publishers of the Mail Online newspaper," tweeted royal reporter Omid Scobie.

"We expect to learn more about Harry's libel suit against ANL in the coming weeks as documents filed in the UK High Court are made public," Scobie continued.

"This news follows the Mail on Sunday's recent reporting of several stories about Harry's ongoing commitment to police protection while in the U.K. In January 2021, the Duke settled a libel suit against the paper over false stories about his relationship with the military. ...

The lawsuit in question ended with the Duke receiving "significant damages" from the news conglomerate for publishing articles implying that the Duke had "turned his back" on the British military.

Scobie later added the following information: "Harry's court filings include a letter to the Mail on Sunday newspaper (which is now paying a large sum of money to Meghan) over a 'defamatory' report claiming that it lied about offering to pay for police protection in June and tried to hide the Home Office's lawsuit. paid damages) against the Mail on Sunday,"

which details the lawsuit.

The Duchess of Sussex won her case against ANL in late 2021.

Prince Harry's new legal action is a rebuke to an article in the Mail alleging that he a. tried to hide from the public knowledge that he had filed a lawsuit against the British Home Office and b. lied about requesting police protection money himself when he visited his birth country.

Writing in Harper's Bazaar, Scobie explained that the Sussexes needed official police protection in the UK.

The Duke has long made it clear that he, his wife, and their children need proper security when visiting the UK.
