Kate Middleton gives a false name to a clerk she doesn't recognize.

As the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visit Wales today (March 1) for St. David's Day, the Mirror dug up an incredible anecdote from the couple's time in Wales 10 years ago.

Shortly after their 2011 wedding, the Cambridges rented a house in Anglesey, Wales.

One day, Kate Middleton decided to shop at a watersports store called Funsport in Loose Nagle. Unfortunately, just as she was about to take the wetsuit the Duchess had selected to the cash register, she realized she had forgotten her wallet.

Embarrassed, Middleton asked the store owner if he could reserve the wetsuit for him, giving him a chance to pick up the money.

"He [Bucky] was satisfied with that, but then he pulled out a pen and asked her name," a source told the Mail. Perhaps trying to play down her fate as a future queen, she replied, "Mrs. Cambridge." In other words, not a pseudonym per se, but not her real name either.

"He was looking straight at her and actually commented that it was a rather unusual last name," the source continued. 'He had no idea who she was. She just smiled and said she would be back."

"He hasn't been able to get that out of his mind since." No, I can imagine. [Hugh Grant's friends don't notice international superstar Julia Roberts.

As I write this, the Cambridges are in Wales.
