Meghan Markle's sister Samantha sues her for making up "royal rags" story

Meghan Markle's family relationships seem to be really enjoying themselves (we hope the irony works).

According to documents obtained by TMZ, in the latest development, the Duchess' half-sister Samantha is now suing her for defamation.

Samantha shares Meghan's father Thomas, who accused the royal family of lying in a March 2021 interview with Oprah.

The 57-year-old published her tell-all autobiography in 2021, titled Princess Pussy's Sister's Diary - Part 1, and according to TMZ, she now claims that some of the things Princess Meghan said about her "hurt the sales of her autobiography, prevented her from getting work, and caused mental and emotional distress."

Regarding the alleged lies in question, Samantha cited the story "From Rags to Royalty," in which the Duchess spoke about growing up in "virtual poverty." She claimed that Thomas paid for Meghan to attend an "elite and expensive private school," while the Duchess said she paid for her own education at Northwestern.

Samantha also told Oprah Winfrey that Meghan lied about claiming she was an "only child," but given that it is a known fact that she has a half-sister and that she directly referred to Samantha during the interview, I am convinced that the Duchess said it as a figure of speech.

The Duchess also said that it had been "at least 18, 19 years ago, 10 years before that," since she met her sister, but Samantha claims this is not true.

In an interview with Winfrey, Princess Meghan said that Samantha "changed her last name back to Markle when I started dating Harry, and I think she was in her early 50s then. I think that was enough."

Samantha also stated in her lawsuit that Meghan allegedly lied so that she and Thomas could not "interfere with or refute the false narrative and fairy-tale life story that the Duchess made up." Oh, brother. Or... Or sister. (17]

"This baseless and absurd lawsuit is nothing more than a continuation of a disturbing pattern of behavior," was the response from the Duchess of Sussex's lawyer Michael Kamp. 'We are simply taking the minimum necessary precautions.'

For what it's worth, this is not the first time Samantha has tried to come for her sister. Samantha proposed New Year's resolutions for her sister and published a book timed to coincide with Meghan's due date. She apologized to the Duchess once in 2018 on live television.
