Kristen Stewart "really surprised" by Oscar nomination for playing Princess Diana

Kristen Stewart may be beloved as a global superstar, but she is surprisingly down to earth.

One example is her reaction to her recent Academy Award nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her stunning performance as Princess Diana in the 2021 biopic "Spencer."

Stewart recently served as honorary chairperson of the Independent Spirit Awards. On the red carpet at the event, "Entertainment Tonight" asked the star how she felt about her Oscar nomination.

"I'm really surprised, and I'm incredibly moved and touched and just floored," she said. I love this movie."

She recalled working closely with director Pablo LarraĆn on the film and meeting him again after the nominations were announced. She said, "I met Spencer's director for the first time since I knew about the nomination, and it was so nice to see the look on his face and all the work we put into this film, and it showed in his smile."

Stewart was asked how she would have felt if she had not received a nomination after being predicted as the most likely candidate for months." I never even came close to it," she said. So even if I hadn't been nominated, the experience alone would have been truly shocking."

At the Independent Spirit Awards, she said it meant a lot to her to be in the independent film industry, and she wore an amazing Chanel outfit (of course). She called it a "really standard pantsuit," but I disagree: she said it was "a really standard pantsuit," but I disagree. In fact, it was a sparkly white one with black panels, and it suited her like a glove.

Stewart has been a muse and ambassador for Chanel for several years.
