Courteney Cox has a "lousy memory," as she admitted to TODAY.

You and I can basically remember every quirk, move, and line of Monica Gellar in Friends, but apparently the actress who played her can barely remember anything.

The cast of the cult show recently filmed their long-awaited reunion, and Cox explained that she really should have done her homework beforehand. Because when they asked me questions at the reunion, I was like, 'I don't remember being there. ' Yeah, I don't remember filming that many episodes."

And it wasn't nerves or anything, he said, but that he couldn't remember the show when the reruns came on. Sometimes I watch it on TV and I stop and say, "Oh my God, I don't remember any of it." "But it's so funny."

Cox explained why he thinks his memory plays such tricks on him. 'It's really basic stuff,' he said. 'I don't remember any childhood trauma, but I have about three memories. I don't know. I don't know why."

In her interview, she recalled one incident during a trip to Las Vegas with "Friends" director Jim Burrows that gave her insight into the kind of fame she and her fellow cast members were headed for. "He gave all of us $500," Burrows said. And he said, 'This is the last time you six will be able to walk through a casino together, so I want you to cherish this moment. Really? And it was true. We can't do something like that (again)."

"I mean, I don't want to sound like, 'Look at us. We're not the Beatles. But we all feel like we know you. If the six of us were walking down the street, I think that would be really interesting for everybody."

Even if Cox doesn't remember most of the filming of Friends, she does remember how painful it was to shoot the fountain scene in the opening credits. She told Ellen DeGeneres in 2021 that she had to dance in the fountain for hours, and it was a pretty awful experience. I hope all the other memories she has left are good ones.
