The April 29, 2011 wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton was one of the most widely watched weddings in history. We all watched as the two kissed after the ceremony on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

When Kate stepped out onto the balcony and noticed the crowd of onlookers below, her first reaction was a surprised "wow," MyLondon reported via the Mirror. Below the newlyweds, the euphoric crowd shouted "We want Kate!" and to William, "Kiss her! Kiss her!"

The couple soaked up the moment, and William turned to Kate and cheekily said, "I want Kate!

The first kiss was "modest and quick, but the crowd cheered with delight," the Mirror reported.

Then, usually shy of PDA, but caught up in the euphoria, William turned to Kate again and said, "Let's do it again. I love you. One more time, one more kiss. Okay?" The second kiss, of course, delighted the crowd, so much so that one of the bridesmaids covered her ears. Meanwhile, best man and William's brother, Prince Harry, joked with his grandfather, Prince Philip.

Recalling that wonderful day, lip-readers studied not only what was said on the balcony, but also what was said inside Westminster Abbey, where William and Kate's wedding took place. According to "Kate: A Biography," published in 2013 by royal author Marcia Moody, as Kate walked down the aisle toward the groom, William, following tradition, avoided looking at his bride. He whispered, "I'm not sure what you mean," royal author Marcia Moody said in her 2013 book, "Kate: A Biography.

When Kate finally met William at the altar after a long walk down the aisle, "the couple looked at each other and William murmured to Kate, 'You look beautiful,'" Moody wrote.

Fun fact about the Buckingham Palace balcony kiss tradition: Prince Charles and Princess Diana were so nervous at their 1981 wedding that he forgot to kiss his bride at the end of their ceremony in St. Paul's Cathedral.
