If Bella Hadid seems a little "scary," that's okay. There is a part of her that seems to do that on purpose.

Bella feels a strong need to protect herself in an industry that could eat her up.

Part of her need to be cautious may come from growing up in the shadow of her older sister Gigi.

"I was the uglier sister," she told Vogue. 'I was a brunette. I wasn't as cool or outgoing as Gigi.

"That's really what people said about me. And unfortunately, when people say it enough times, I believe it. I have anxiety, depression, body image issues, eating issues, don't like to be touched, and have strong social anxiety.

"But over the years I have become a good actress. I can look very smiling or very strong. I always felt I had something to prove. People can say whatever they want about the way I look, the way I talk, the way I act. But in the past 7 years, I have never missed work, cancelled or been late. No one can say I haven't worked hard"

To boost her confidence, Bella had a nose job when she was 14." I wanted to keep the nose of my ancestors," she revealed." I think I would have grown into that nose," she revealed."

Nevertheless, her nose is the only part she has permanently altered, despite the relentless rumors. She says, "People think I completely messed with my face because of one swollen picture from my teenage years.

"I'm pretty sure my face looks different now than it did when I was 13."

"I've had impostor syndrome. People always have something to say, but what I'm trying to say is that I've always been misunderstood by the industry and the people around me."

Now that she is speaking out, she hopes people will understand her better.
