Meghan Markle Plans to Release Spotify's First Podcast Series This Summer

It's a question that many royal followers, including us, have had on their minds for over a year: what happened to Archewell Audio?

After 15 months of silence on the Archewell Audio feed, there finally seems to be an answer - Meghan Markle released her first Spotify podcast this summer, and after previously expressing concern about the COVID-19 misinformation, she and husband Prince Harry confirmed that they would stick with the platform.

Details are sparse, but a spokesperson for Archewell Audio confirmed to PEOPLE that details about Meghan's podcast series will be shared soon.

Harry and Meghan announced in mid-December that they will enter into a major multi-year partnership with Spotify in late 2020 to "build community through shared experiences, stories, and values." At the end of the year, Archewell Audio's debut podcast, a holiday special, was released, with Harry and Duchess Meghan on the mic, a glittering lineup of celebrity guests, and even a cameo appearance by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's then 19-month-old son, Archie.

"What we love about podcasting is that it reminds all of us to take the time to really listen and connect with each other without distractions," the couple said in a joint statement at the time.

"Because it is in listening to each other and hearing each other's stories that we are reminded of how connected we all are."

Then silence.

In 2021, Archiwell Audio hired podcast producer Rebecca Sananes in a big way. Then, in January 2022, the Sussexes issued a statement that may explain the delay in content-COVID-19 misinformation, including information spread by Joe Logan, another Spotify podcaster (although the Sussexes never directly mentioned Logan). According to the statement, the Sussexes expressed their concerns to Spotify as of April 2021 and "expect Spotify to respond at this moment and are committed to continue working together as they do."

A spokesperson for Archewell Audio told PEOPLE that Meghan and her team have worked closely with Spotify and the company's senior leadership." . to ensure that the digital technology many of us use every day is rooted in strong principles of trust and security." The Princess Meghan show and Archewell Audio's future programming "will provide ample factual, quality information, especially when it comes to public health," the spokesperson added.
