Wanda Sykes gets sick after watching Will Smith slap and abuse Chris Rock.

Wanda Sykes, Amy Schumer, and Regina Hall had the somewhat dreaded task of hosting Sunday night's Academy Awards, where people's accomplishments were completely overshadowed by a moment when Will Smith gave Chris Rock a slap on the wrist over a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith The moment was completely overshadowed by a brief incident in which Will Smith slapped Chris Rock over a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith.

Sykes, who appeared on the Ellen Show, said he returned to his trailer to change into his pajamas for a skit and missed the slap, but saw everyone backstage in shock and witnessed Smith yell twice from his seat at Rock, "Don't say my wife's name." She was not sure what to say about the situation. She did not mince words in commenting on the situation.

"I felt bad for my friend Chris. It was disgusting. I totally ....... It made me feel physically sick and I'm still a little traumatized."

She added, "To let him stay in that room and enjoy the rest of the show and accept the award, I thought, 'How sickening' and 'This is the wrong message. If he assaults somebody, he gets kicked out of the building, and that's the end of it. But I thought it was sickening that they let him continue."

The academy said in a statement that it asked Smith to leave, but he did not comply.

Later, lightening the mood a bit, Sykes quipped, "And I wanted to be able to say, after he won, 'Unfortunately, Will couldn't be here tonight.'"

Sykes added, "I know he apologized to Chris, but I believe him. This is our house, and I'm inviting you guys. You're going to have a good time. And no one apologized to us. We worked really hard to put on that show... The industry itself is like, "What the hell?" It's like, "What the hell?""
