Kardashian Family Wins Lawsuit Against Black China at Met Gala
Blac Chyna filed defamation lawsuits against Kris and Kylie Jenner in 2017, and Kim and Khloe Kardashian, which finally went to trial in April 2022.
Sina sued the Kardashians because she felt they were responsible for the cancellation of her reality show "Rob & Sina."
All four defendants were present for the majority of the trial, but the "Guardian" reported that they had a pretty good excuse for a sly reprieve while the verdict was read in Los Angeles: they were attending the Met Gala in New York City. Frankly, I'm no genius, but even I can see which one would be more fun.
China sued the family for $108 million, but received no damages.
The jury deliberated for 10 hours and ultimately found that the Kardashians acted "in bad faith" but were not responsible for taking Rob & Chyna off the air.
Michael G. Rose, the Kardashians' attorney, spoke with the four women by phone and told People that "they are happy to have this matter resolved."
Sina's attorney, Lynn Ciani, said she would appeal, but felt this was not a complete loss for her client. The "victory," she said, "is that Sina did not physically abuse her fiancé, Rob. The family apparently insisted that she did. Cinna herself simultaneously sued Rob for assault, violence, and harassment.
Rob and Chyna were in a relationship from 2016 to 2017 and share a 5-year-old daughter Dream.
Meanwhile, the four defendants were celebrating the Met Gala's "In America: An Anthology of Fashion" theme with a series of glittering and outlandish outfits.
