Archie Mountbatten-Windsor turns 3: Royals celebrate birthday with old photos

Happy birthday, not baby Archie! Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's first child turns 3 years old today, and while his home state of California has yet to celebrate the day, the UK-based royals have already begun celebrating.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wrote on Instagram Stories and Twitter, "Wishing Archie a happy 3rd birthday today," along with an official family photo taken at Archie's christening.

Clarence House (referring to Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles) also wrote on Instagram Stories, "Happy Birthday Archie! with the simple caption "Happy Birthday Archie!" and a red balloon emoji, and shared a photo of the Prince of Wales alongside Prince Harry and baby Archie.

The royal family's social media account, posting on behalf of the royal family, wished Archie Mountbatten Windsor a happy third birthday with a photo of the Queen and Prince Philip meeting their great-grandson in 2019!" he wrote. The photo also shows Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and their mother, Doria Ragland.

It is quite significant that all three senior royals chose to share old photos of Archie, rather than snaps that the Sussexes shared after moving to the United States. However, since it is believed that their relationship with the Sussexes has deteriorated so much since they chose to step down from their royal duties and move to the U.S., one can imagine that they did not want to admit that their children were physically separated from them.

Anyway, it is now midnight in Montecito, California, so we wait with bated breath to see how the Sussexes will publicly acknowledge their son's birthday. Obviously, we are waiting for new pictures (perhaps including Lili?) to come out.

Last year, on Archie's second birthday, his parents shared the cutest pictures of him through their website Archewell. They also donated 200 beanies to children in New Zealand. What will his birthday be like this year?
