Prince William and Kate Middleton return to Wales for Queen's Jubilee Weekend
The Queen's Platinum Jubilee has been on the minds of royal fans for months.
From June 2 to June 6, the United Kingdom will celebrate the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's reign.
For example, it turns out that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will indeed attend the celebration (after months of deliberation about appropriate security) and will bring their children Archie and Lili.
We also learned what the senior royals would be doing over the weekend (when not standing on the balcony of Buckingham Palace).
"Over the central weekend, members of the Royal Family will be visiting countries around the UK to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee," Buckingham Palace said in a statement (via Town & Country). Buckingham Palace released a statement saying, "Members of the Royal Family will be attending events in their countries, including public events to mark the occasion."
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will return to Wales for the occasion.
To me, and this is pure speculation, but it feels intentional: Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles are now Prince and Princess of Wales (the Duchess of Cornwall holds that title, but Princess Diana ), but it is widely understood that once Prince Charles ascends to the throne, the Cambridges will assume that role. Therefore, it makes diplomatic sense for the young royals to become familiar with the country and its people so that they can better represent it in the future.
During the Jubilee weekend, Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex, will head to Northern Ireland, while Princess Anne will visit Scotland. The Queen's plans are not detailed in that particular statement, but it is certain that the Queen will celebrate in England, the largest country in the United Kingdom and the monarch's home country.
