Kate Middleton and Prince William show off their precious PDA in the Bahamas.
Times are changing.
Where once Kate Middleton and Prince William were rarely seen expressing affection in public, in recent years images of the two sharing loving gestures have become commonplace.
One could make the case that this is a deliberate choice, intended to enhance the intimacy of the Cambridges as their role in the royal family evolves.
Returning to the main topic, the matter of holding hands for the camera during their recent tour of the Caribbean.
TikTok user Jimmy Rex spotted the two in the lobby of the Royal Couple's hotel in the Bahamas and shot a video. When he posted the video on the social media platform, he wrote, "Must be important people, my hotel has 35 security guards with me!" he titled the video sarcastically. The hashtag he used in the caption confirms that he knew perfectly well who they were and was actually joking.
The video shows the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (she is wearing the yellow dress she wore on her last night in the Bahamas) holding hands as they (presumably) walk out of the hotel and are followed by security guards.
Rex asks "How you doin'? " to which the Duke replies, "Hello!" The content creator says to the Duchess, "That's beautiful." The Duchess then says, "Have a nice holiday," to which the Duchess responds, "I'll see you soon.
In 2016, royal etiquette expert Micah Meyer explained to People why the Cambridges rarely held hands in public back then (though they still do these days). "On tours like the India trip, the couple is technically working as representatives of the British royal family." The couple will likely show little to no PDA in order to remain professional during their designated roles abroad." In other words, fair.
