Sussex documentary "can expect to see children, too," expert says.

From the beginning of their co-parenting arrangement, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle expressed a desire to keep their children's lives private, which is why Archie's birth in May 2019 did not feature the lindwing steps as it did for their three Cambridge children, That's why Archie's christening two months later was private, and why we rarely saw Archie or his sister Lili throughout the lives of their two children. (To date, there is only one photo of Lili, who will turn one in two weeks.)

Marie Claire reported yesterday that the Sussexes are filming an "at-home" documentary as part of a multimillion-dollar deal with Netflix, and according to one royal expert, Netflix is not only including Harry and Meghan in this documentary, children could also be featured in the film. (Incidentally, it is unclear whether the couple has given permission for the children to be filmed.)

"Any good on-the-scene documentary needs tension and drama, otherwise it would just be boring," MailPlus' Richard Eden said of the latest episode of Palace Confidential. 'People on Netflix are willing to pay to see it.'

Instead of going after Pearl, which Eden says is "a very worthy animated series" about Princess Meghan, "they're going after what they think will sell, which is a show about the Sussexes themselves."

As for getting the kids in front of the camera, Eden says, "I don't think it's a good idea. But what did we see when they were interviewed by Oprah Winfrey? So if Netflix is going to pay for it, they should want to see the kids too."

Shortly after retiring from active royalty in 2020, Harry and Meghan signed a deal with Netflix. So far, in addition to the burgeoning documentary, the streaming service has had two other projects in the works: the Pearl, which was canceled earlier this month, and Heart of Invictus, a documentary about Harry's Invictus Games. Cameras went into the games last month in The Hague, Netherlands, and "Heart of Invictus" is expected to be released later this year.

Commentator Patrick Christis recently told "GB News" that Netflix wants to put out the Sussex documentary "in conjunction" with Harry's memoir, which is scheduled for release later this year. These, plus the upcoming release of Meghan's Spotify podcast "Archetypes," will keep the Sussexes very busy for the rest of 2022.
