It was reportedly not the Queen who pushed for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's balcony exclusion.
A statement from Buckingham Palace said, "After careful consideration, the Queen..." and that Trooping the Colour would be limited to only current royalty on the balcony of Buckingham Palace. However, according to the Star via "OK!", it was actually two other senior royals, Prince Charles and Prince William, who stepped onto the balcony exclusion of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, although the official statement said it was Her Majesty's decision.
"They feel that since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved to the United States, they have been causing nothing but chaos by throwing shade at the royal family and giving interviews," one source told the magazine. They think it's hypocritical for Harry and Meghan to smile and wave to the crowds from the balcony and act as if they are one big happy family."
Apparently, the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Cambridge were particularly outraged when Harry commented to Today's Hoda Kotb that he always makes sure his grandmother is surrounded by "the right people" despite being geographically separated from her.
OK! reported, "Meanwhile, the queen was reportedly open to the idea of having the Sussexes by her side on the balcony."
Marie Claire recently reported that being on the balcony is not important to the Sussexes, and OK! reported that "despite the balcony ban, Harry still wants his children to have a wonderful family reunion."
"William will be worried that Harry and Meghan will do stunts to try to steal the limelight," writer Tom Bower told the magazine." Kate and William would be foolish not to be suspicious and wise not to be cautious."
Hopefully the Platinum Jubilee will give the Windsors some much-needed healing.
