Summer Fridays' first SPF product is now available.

Summer Fridays' first SPF product is now available.

I'll be the first to admit it: I'm picky about sunscreen. So believe me when I tell you that the soon-to-be-released Summer Fridays Shadedrops Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Mineral Milk Sunscreen is the real deal. It's silky, non-sticky, layers like a dream under makeup, and gives the most insane blurring effect on the skin.

This highly anticipated new product, launching Monday, May 31 for $36, has the most elegant sunscreen texture I've ever tried. It feels like a lightweight serum, as opposed to the heavy, gooey sunscreen that is common with zinc oxide-based formulations. While it can be applied directly to the skin with a bottle-nose applicator, I like to hold it in my hand first to make sure I'm using enough product to protect my skin from the sun's UVA and UVB rays.

The product is tinted at first, but as you begin to rub it into the skin, the nude color changes to an easy to blend white. It quickly blends into the skin and leaves a soft glow. To be honest, the finish is similar to that of a blotting primer. It's not matte or dull, but it leaves a subtle sheen.

As for the formula itself, 'it is full of good ingredients. One of the biggest callouts is squalane, a plant-derived ingredient that is very moisturizing. It also contains chamomile, which has a soothing effect, and the SPF is gentle enough for my sensitive, dry, rosacea-prone skin. It also contains plenty of antioxidants, including vitamin E, to protect the skin from free radical damage. when the SPF bottoms out, wash the bottle and put it in the recycling. Every ingredient is recyclable.

To make sure you get this SPF for summer (trust me, you'll want it), sign up for announcements at summerfridays.com or check sephora.com on Memorial Day.
