The Queen is opening a pub at Sandringham Manor.
She is the monarch of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth, defender of the faith, supreme president of the Church of England, patron of charities, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and landlady.
A landlady, she is now apparently taking on a new and surprising role as a pub owner.
The Victorian property in the Royal Sandringham Estate was formerly used as a social club, but has been closed for the past two years after having served its purpose.
According to the Daily Mail, the pub is located in the West Newton village of Sandringham Estate, which is privately owned by the Queen.
"The building was operated by the Estate Club until about 2020," the Randalls' website states.
"Due to the impact of the pandemic and declining membership, the difficult decision was made not to reopen the club, as with other smaller private establishments in the hospitality sector.
"Therefore, we are currently looking for a new tenant for a new lease to maintain this important facility with plans that include community engagement and bringing commercial activity that will benefit the community"
.
According to the Mail, this is the first pub for Queen Elizabeth II.
The Queen may not be a regular at the local tavern, but she is known for her love of a good drink. She reportedly had to give up her evening martini in order to be in top condition for the Jubilee celebrations.
Once someone suitable gets the pub's premises, all that remains is for them to come up with the perfect name. In a business that has named all of its establishments after various members of the Royal Family, past and present, this is probably not the most difficult task. It could be the Duke of Edinburgh (the Queen's beloved late husband), the Prince of Wales (the Queen's eldest son and heir), or perhaps a name like The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. More on that later.
