While the Cambridges are in Cardiff, the Sussexes will reportedly meet the Queen on Lilibet's first birthday
Hi hi, I don't mean to be a surprise, but Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor will be a whole year old on Saturday, June 4.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will celebrate their daughter's birthday over the Jubilee long weekend.
However, the less auspicious timing is that Prince William and Kate Middleton will unfortunately miss the celebration as they will be traveling to Cardiff that day as part of their Jubilee duties, the Daily Mail reports. (The Duke and Duchess are regularly sent to the country to meet with local people, businesses, and organizations, as the Duke of Cambridge is likely to be the next Prince of Wales.)
According to the Mail, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will celebrate their daughter at Frogmore Cottage, a villa in Windsor.
The party is a super location for the Queen, who recently made Windsor Castle her permanent home. However, the stars must further align for the Queen to attend her great-grandson's birthday: according to sources who spoke to The Sun, the chances of the Queen attending the Epsom Derby (known simply as the "Derby") are unfortunately "becoming increasingly unlikely." One reason for this, they said, is ongoing "athletic issues," as well as the fact that all three of her owned horses are no longer able to run in Saturday's race. Princess Anne, a former Olympic equestrian, will reportedly fill in for her mother at the event.
If the queen does go chilling with her own baby name, it will be the first time the two meet in person. Lili was born in California, her parents' new home. Her brother Archie was born in England, but has not seen his relatives in England since the Sussex family moved there.
As for Mr. and Mrs. Cambridge, I am confident that at some point in the four-day weekend, they will find a way to stick their heads in to meet the little girl. The Cambridges and the Sussexes would normally be attending Thanksgiving at St. Paul's Cathedral on Friday, so they would be able to meet then. However, since only the Queen's older great-grandchildren attend there, the family will not be able to meet Archie and Lili on that occasion.
