If you've ever had your armpits, legs, upper lip, or bikini line removed, you know all too well that it's not always a pleasant experience. Thanks to his role as a Ken doll in the upcoming Barbie movie, Sim Liu can relate. He spurred his grooming habit by getting a full-body waxing that left no hair on his body prior to filming.

"Waxing was a learning experience, to say the least," the Shang Ki and Ten Rings legendary actor told The Independent in a recent interview. 'It was one of the hardest experiences of my life. I have a newfound admiration for the incredibly brave women who go through this every month."

Going hairless may not be the only way Liu is preparing for the film; in early February, the Marvel actor showed off his new platinum blonde hairstyle on Instagram." Sorry, Mom, don't kill me," he captioned a shirtless selfie. Some astute followers speculated that the new hairstyle was for work, but it wasn't until a few weeks later that news broke that Liu would officially join the cast.

Little is known about the film, but Liu said it is "incredibly unique" and "wild," according to an interview he did with GQ last month. He also spilled that the main reason he decided to take on the role was because of the rave reviews he received from his agent. He (my agent) literally said to me, 'You know what? If I had to bet my career on it, it would be Barbie's script. I really think I should do it."

Liu is not the only big name to appear in Barbie. Margot Robbie will play the lead role, and Ryan Gosling has been tapped to play the main Ken doll. The first look at Robbie in character was released earlier this year and virtually took the Internet by storm. While we have yet to see Gosling as Ken, rest assured that we are eagerly awaiting the images. Barbie is scheduled to be released on July 23, 2023.
