Camila politely reminds Kate and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands to stop talking at an important royal event.

The awarding of the Order of the Garter is an annual staple of the Royal Diary. This past Monday, the ceremony was held for the first time since 2019 thanks to COVID, and this year Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, was named a Royal Lady of the Garter. (According to the Mirror, the Order of the Garter was created by King Edward III in 1348 to recognize contributions to public service. Members of the Order include the queen, several senior royals, and 24 other knights or ladies, all of whom are personally chosen by the monarch in recognition of their service. For those who are not royal followers, it is a day when royalty don velvet robes and plumed hats and take part in processions.)

In 2019, members of the British royal family as well as the kings and queens of the Netherlands and Spain attended. Camilla and Kate Middleton (two future queens) watched the ceremony along with two current queens: Queen Maxima of the Netherlands and Queen Letizia of Spain.

And Kate was so engrossed in conversation with Maxima that she nearly missed an important part of the procession, the Mirror reported. Camilla then intervened, tapping Maxima on the arm and reminding them both to look forward while the parade passed by. Sophie, Countess of Wessex, soon lined up next to Letizia.

"Kate Middleton was spotted deep in conversation at the 2019 Order of the Garter ceremony in Windsor," the magazine reported." And if not for Camilla's reminder, she might have missed an important part of the event."

Why did a foreign monarch attend a very British event?" the Mirror reported, "Some foreign monarchs are also members of the Order but are known as 'Stranger' Knights. They include King Felipe of Spain and King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands.

Besides the Queen and Camilla, other members of the British royal family include Prince Charles, Prince William, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward.
