Duchess Camilla reveals that her marriage to Prince Charles was not always "easy"
Last week we told you about Kim Kardashian and how, despite what you may think of her, she has a really strong sense of humor. Well, here is another public figure who, if you knew nothing else, you might be surprised to learn can make fun of herself in a hilarious and endearing way.
The Duchess of Cornwall was the first person to be interviewed by British Vogue, and at just shy of 75 years of age, she was delighted when she agreed to be photographed. The interview begins with the Duchess saying to the photographer the priceless words, "I'm sorry I photographed an old bat this morning." In other words!
In the interview, the royal went on to talk about everything from working with survivors of domestic violence, to Instagram book clubs, to playing Wordle with her granddaughter (and being terribly smug about it, too - "It's so satisfying when you tell me how great you are," she said) She was somewhat surprisingly candid.
She also acknowledged how difficult it was for her to be seen essentially as the villain who broke up the marriage of Prince Charles and Princess Diana. She said, "I was under scrutiny for so long that I had to find a way to live with it. Everyone is watched and criticized at all hours of the day ......." She said. 'But I think in the end you get over it and you do it. But in the end, I think you get over it and get on with your life." [On marrying the future king, the duchess also spoke about their extremely busy schedules and the often difficult task of spending time together to have a heart to heart. She said, "It's not easy, but we always try to have time in our day to see each other." [Sometimes it's like ships passing each other in the middle of the night, but we always sit down together and have a cup of tea and talk about our day. We have time. It's nice to catch up when we have time."
"When we go away, the best thing to do is to sit in different corners of the same room and read a book. It's very relaxing because you don't have to make conversation. We just sit and be together." This is actually... . it makes you feel closer?
