Kate Middleton Says Wimbledon is "George's Treat" When asked why Charlotte and Louis didn't come to the tennis tournament.
This past weekend, Prince George attended the Wimbledon tennis tournament for the first time and watched the final between Novak Djokovic, the favorite to win, and Nick Kyrgios, the favorite to win.
According to the Daily Star, reporters at the event wanted to know why Prince William and Kate Middleton brought only George and not their other children.
The 8-year-old was then asked who he was rooting for, but he was a little embarrassed and turned to his father and said, "Djokovic." The Duke of Cambridge replied, "Let's see how long that lasts. He'll be rooting for the winner." Thankfully for the boy, "Djokovic" and "winner" turned out to be the same person.
But there are several other pieces to the story that the Cambridges brought Prince George, not Princess Charlotte or Prince Louis, to Wimbledon on Sunday.
"Hello!" says that Prince William first attended this legendary competition with his mother, Princess Diana, when he was 9 years old, and Prince George will turn 9 in a few weeks; in 1991, Prince Harry (then 6, about to turn 7, about the same age as Princess Charlotte is now) did not attend.
Second, to participate in Wimbledon, children must be at least five years old, according to the tournament's rules, so as not to get unruly in the stands. Unfortunately for Prince Louis, as of this writing, he is only four years old and therefore does not qualify for this special spectator status.
