Prince George with the Novak Djokovic trophy, chatting with the Cambridge couple.
Tennis lover Prince George attended the Wimbledon tennis finals this past weekend as a "treat." [The 8-year-old prince must have been delighted to see his favorite Novak Djokovic beat Australia's Nick Kyrgios for the title. But he must have been even happier when he actually got his hands on the Djokovic trophy.
In a video clip released by Express, the Serbian tennis champion holds Prince William's hand, then George's, and chats with the little boy for a while. George then gives Djokovic two thumbs up and congratulates him.
Djokovic then hands the trophy to George, and the boy grabs the handle of the trophy and inspects it all over, pointing out various things to his oldest son.
After holding the trophy for a while, George seems to have had enough (i.e., is this trophy heavy since he is still small?
Of course, this was not the first time the Duchess of Cambridge had held the trophy that day. She is the patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, where Wimbledon is held each year, which is why she was given the honor.
The Duke and Duchess again congratulated the champion on Instagram." Another incredible tournament was held here at Wimbledon this year. Congratulations to @djokernole for once again becoming the Men's Singles Champion and to all the players who participated over the past two weeks." Last but not least, to the staff, team, and community who make this special event possible."
