Tom Bower's new book, Revenge: Meghan, Harry, and the War Between the Windsors, details a tough conversation between brothers Prince William and Harry about their respective wives, Kate Middleton and It details the tough conversations that the brothers, Prince William and Prince Harry, had about their relationship with their respective wives, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle.

According to the Mirror, the book claims that as Harry was preparing for an official visit to Australia and New Zealand in 2018 with Meghan, Kate told William that he should "be more friendly to his wife."

"Harry said that members of their own family had not shown her [Meghan] enough support, respect, and friendship," Bower writes.

"Harry believed that Princess Meghan should be held in the same esteem as her mother [Princess Diana].

Not entirely shockingly, the conversation did not go well.

"William's reply was not a sympathetic one," Bower wrote.

By late 2018, the brothers were already at odds, and had been so for some time. But, Bower writes, "outside the court, few knew of the brothers' split. At any rate, William had served as best man at his brother's wedding just a few months earlier, in May 2018.

The "who-cried-who" drama between Kate and Meghan reportedly occurred during the bridesmaids' dress fitting in preparation for that wedding. The media claimed that Meghan made Kate cry, but in an explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, Meghan said the opposite happened.

Bower's book contains new details about the altercation, claiming that the two were at odds over whether Kate's daughter Princess Charlotte should wear tights and whether her dress fit properly.

Another veteran royal biographer, Andrew Morton, in his book Meghan: A Hollywood Princess, because of her difficult pregnancy with her youngest son, Prince Louis, born less than a month before Meghan's wedding, In the months before the wedding, Kate wrote that she "didn't have much energy" to bond with Meghan. (Prince Louis was born on April 23, 2018, and the wedding was on May 19 of that year.)

Princess Meghan said she forgave Kate, and in an interview with Oprah, she said Kate was a "good person" and that Kate sent her flowers to apologize for the incident. Princess Meghan did not directly address what caused the argument, only that it happened.
