This week marked a milestone for Princess Charlotte. At the Commonwealth Games on Tuesday, she made her first royal outing alone, along with Prince William and Kate Middleton.

According to father William (and PEOPLE magazine), Charlotte is a "rising star" in soccer, but according to the Daily Mail, the couple's only daughter "spends most of her time upside down, standing on her head and spinning," said mother Kate, who loves gymnastics. During a visit to the Sports Aid House, Tim Lawler, the organization's chief executive officer, said, "She really, really loves to watch swimming, but she is interested in gymnastics, and she tries different sports at home, but when I asked her about sports, she said, 'My favorite is gymnastics.' ' And she answered very simply."

Charlotte then watched the gymnastics competition live on the same day, and PEOPLE reported that "the young royal was watching with a big smile on her face and her arms in the air."

At the SportsAid House, PEOPLE reported that Charlotte met many athletes and "sat with her hands folded in her lap, mirroring her parents. Like Kate, she seemed to lean toward the athletes, listening to them and joining in the conversation."

"I noticed that the Duke and Duchess were including Charlotte in the conversation, as we had been trying to do," Lawler said. It was clear that the Duke and Duchess were doing so to include Charlotte in the conversation and to reassure her."

When Charlotte added her medal to the Sports Aid House awards wall, "she was charming and very willing to put her medal on the medal board, Lawler says. 'They were in date order, but she made sure they were.'

All five Cambridges, William, Kate, Charlotte, and Charlotte's brothers, Prince George and Prince Louis, are big sports fans. Last month, Prince George attended Wimbledon for the first time, and last summer he appeared at Euro 2020 soccer to cheer on England.
